When they got home, Wei Dong didn’t allow Qin Youyou to turn on the light. He held on to Qin Youyou’s hand and as he closed the door, he pulled him in to his arms. “Wait here for me for a second.”
There was a little light coming through the window. Wei Dong walked over to the table. The lighter clicked to life, and one by one he lit the candles on the cake.
There were actually only two—they were number candles.
Looking up, Qin Youyou saw Wei Dong’s face glowing from the orange light.
Wei Dong smiled and opened his hands. “Come here.”
Those two eyes held a warm smile, the flickering candlelight dancing across his pupils gleamed like stars.
Qin Youyou forced himself to take a breath. His chest felt heavy.
It was quiet all around. In this small corner filled with orange light, Wei Dong radiated. His mouth curved into a smile as he looked at him.
Qin Youyou couldn’t hesitate any longer. He walked straight towards him.
His hands found Wei Dong’s palms and they held on tight. His breathing relaxed. He’d found his sense of comfort and security returned to him.
Wei Dong gripped his shoulders, looking towards the light on the cake. His voice was a little embarrassed. “I won’t sing happy birthday to you. It’s a little hard to speak. You… You just make a wish, okay?”
Qin Youyou nodded. “Okay.”
He closed his eyes, solemnly clasping his hands together. He mouthed some words towards the candles. When he opened his eyes, Wei Dong was looking at him. “Happy birthday, Youyou. Can you forget about your sadness? From now on, you can be happy every day.”
Qin Youyou gave an hmm. Wei Dong beamed, and reached out, preparing to cut the cake with the plastic knife.
Qin Youyou pulled him back, both of his hands gripping around his waist firmly.
Wei Dong paused his movement, immediately wrapping his arms around Qin Youyou tightly.
“I’m sorry,” he kissed Qin Youyou’s head. “I made a stupid mistake, I…” He exhaled. “If you’d really walked away, I don’t know how much I would regret it, Youyou.”
“I didn’t want to leave,” Qin Youyou’s voice was choked up, the sound muffled. “I’d made a bet that you couldn’t leave me. But if you had really been willing to leave me, then I would have had swallow my pride and come back to find you again.”
“Huh?” Wei Dong froze.
Qin Youyou looked up at him with red eyes. “What did you think? Did you think it was possible for me to break up with you?”
Wei Dong stared at him.
Qin Youyou’s eyelashes trembled. “It’s just… I didn’t want you to feel forced…”
“So you weren’t actually angry with me?” Wei Dong asked.
“I was a little angry, but even if I was really angry with you, I still wouldn’t break up with you,” Qin Youyou offered his sincerity.
Wei Dong’s heart softened and he let out the breath he was holding. “You scared me to death. You don’t know what I went through today, I couldn’t concentrate at work.”
“I know,” Qin Youyou leaned his face forward. “I was the same… I thought about what to do if you didn’t come find me. I think at most I could have managed three days. I could have stayed in a hotel for three days. If you didn’t come get me, then I would have come back myself and apologised…”
“I’m sorry,” Wei Dong held Qin Youyou’s face, kissed his eyes and touched their foreheads together. “I’m sorry. It’s me that must apologise to you. Because I truly like you so much, you have my heart. I won’t be foolish anymore… I want you forever, Youyou. I don’t want anybody else.”
Qin Youyou’s eyes were bloodshot. As he looked at Wei Dong, his Adam’s apple bobbed.
“… Can you also not hold back anymore?” he asked.
The hair on Wei Dong’s entire body tingled. He grabbed Qin Yoyou’s waist tightly. “Now? But you haven’t had the cake…”
Qin Youyou’s lower lashes could barely hold back the tears. He wiped them with his sleeve, then turned around to scoop off some cream from the cake. After sticking it in his mouth he wrapped his hands around Wei Dong’s neck and kissed him.
The sweetness exploded over his tongue, and Wei Dong’s entire brain blanked out. After drinking this evening, the contentment and pleasure caused by the alcohol seemed to well up and bubble over. He held Qin Youyou’s soft and sweet tongue in his mouth, and taking a deep breath, he fiercely returned the kiss.
Heavy breaths caressed his ear and temple, and Qin Youyou never knew his own vocal cords could gasp that loudly. He felt his heart beating violently like a drum in his chest, causing his entire body to tremble.
Wei Dong kissed him ferociously. As he was kissing him, he suddenly picked him up and, shoulder knocking into the door frame, quickly stepped across the bedroom to the bed. He didn’t let go as both of them crashed on to the bed, their lips not parting for even a second.
Qin Youyou’s gasps were already laced with sobs.
From last night until now, he’d been holding back too many emotions. Now that his Wei Dong was holding him, his body forgot his previous injustices and allowed him to feel that unparalleled feeling of safety and security. The grievances, distress and anxiety that he’d been carrying for a full day and night finally disintegrated. Holding on to Wei Dong, he rubbed himself all over to the point where he could barely breathe while sobbing uncontrollably.
“Am I yours, Ge…? How can there possibly be anybody better than you…”
“You’re mine,” was Wei Dong’s answer as he pushed in.
Qin Youyou clutched on to his arms trying to force out his question. “Is it my fault for not being born ten years before?”
“No.”
“Then why didn’t you want me?”
“It’s not that I didn’t want you,” Wei Dong moved his head closer and kissed his neck while his lower body continued thrusting. “I won’t do it again, never again. Don’t hurt anymore, Youyou…”
It was impossible for him not to be hurt, but now—unsure if it was because of after-effects of the alcohol, the mood or Wei Dong filling his entire body so he was finally at ease—Qin Youyou’s tears couldn’t help but flow unreservedly.
“Why get together if you plan to breakup… It doesn’t matter how good someone else is… I don’t care about that… Why can’t you just understand that?” Qin Youyou turned his face to the side, panting and crying. “I’ve told you over and over again… What more can… Can I say? You always think I’ll… Find someone better later on… But I… I already have met the best person… Ungh!”
Wei Dong pushed into him and held him tightly, his chest bearing down. Pressing his head into his chest, his hips violently began thrusting in and out as he drove deep in.
“… I don’t want anybody else…” Qin Youyou stammered out bit by bit, every word shuddering. He continued speaking and Wei Dong listened, his body diligently responding.
“I need a tissue…” he cried out.
“Huh?” Wei Dong stopped, panting heavily. “What’s wrong?”
“I need to blow my nose,” Qin Youyou’s voice was a little hoarse as he choked out. “I’ve already… I’ve already swallowed too much…”
Wei Dong stared for a second and then couldn’t help but burst out laughing. Even though his laughter was light, Qin Youyou voiced his discontent with a snort.
Wei Dong reached over and pulled some tissues from the side of the bed and attentively wiped Qin Youyou’s face, then wiped his nose clean.
“Better?”
Qin Youyou mumbled his assent. Wei Dong threw the tissues to the side, pulled him back into his arms, pushed back into him and continued to fuck him.
